Jack Davis - Aged Photo

This isn’t a preset that Jack Davis created, but I couldn’t have created it without him. In the spirit of the recent  Senior Superstar preset, this Aged Photo preset uses only effects that were written for PhotoTools by Jack Davis. My goal here was to create an aged photo look and to achieve that, we needed to get some overlays and some noise in there. That helps give it some age, but we needed to add, or reduce, the color so to do that I added the Davis-Antique Color followed by the Davis-Edge Vignette Dark. I think the end result is effective.

Senior Superstar

Here’s another preset by new preset author Andy Rea. Andy calls this one the “Senior Superstar”. Here’s a description from Andy.

“Since I love onOne so much I thought I would honor them by creating a preset using only their already designed presets. I was looking for a moody and color enhanced version of what I captured. Plus I love to add a little selective focus. I tend to like what I created but what artist doesn’t, right? Give it a try!”

I really like how Andy took just effects designed by onOne for his preset - an interesting challenge for others out there! Or perhaps a cool contest theme “Design a preset designed just with Jack Davis Effects” for example. Hmmm…stay tuned! But on to Andy’s preset. Here’s the stack - note how Andy doubled and tripled up several effects to get more than 100% strength of that particular effect.

Here is an example of a before and after using this preset for PhotoTools Professional Edition.

Gritty Senior Photography Preset

I just received a preset from a member of the onOne Exchange Community! Andres “Andy” Rea has just sent me a preset that he calls “AR Gritty Senior 1″ and I must say that I’m really liking what Andy has put together for all of us in his preset. Here’s what Andy had to say about his first preset submission.

“I love to work with Graduation Seniors and they are always looking for something a little unique that their friends don’t have. PhotoTools Professional Edition quickly allows me to come up with new looks without too much effort. Just get creative!”

Check out Andy’s before and after shots and then download the preset and install it. I think you’re really going to love it. For those interested, Andy has combined 10 different effects in PhotoTools Professional to create this look. In applying it myself, I found that I needed to adjust the Davis-Grungy Noise layer a bit, but that is only because of the subject in my photo needed to a little less of the effect than what Andy had applied. That will be the case for any preset you download from this site, but it is something very easy to adjust. I love the preset and would probably never come up with this on my own. Here’s a screenshot of the different effects followed by a before and after shot.
