Description
Last weekend, I was in Washington D.C. for the Epson Print Academy and I stuck around an extra day to be a tourist and take in our Nation’s capitol. As I was walking near the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, I noticed some trees that had a very cool texture to them and thought that they would make a nice addition to the textures in PhotoFrame 4.
To add this texture to PhotoFrame, download it first and save it to your hard drive in a place you can easily find it and unzip it. Next, launch the plug-in from within Photoshop and then go to the File menu and choose Import frames…
Choose the file “tree_bark_texture.frm” and then from the Search field in PhotoFrame 4 type in “tree” and the texture will show up. Keep in mind that when you add this texture, be sure to experiment. Change the color. Change the blend mode. Change the opacity and definitely increase the Blur a little bit. Depending on your image, you can get some cool results.

I like your tree texture. I would love to be able to add some of my own textures and frames and papers and backgrounds and layouts that I have made to Photo Frame 4. Do I need to have these in a Jpeg format, or psd format or Raw format? In other words what is the process for preparing and adding additional frames and textures and backgrounds etc. directly into Photo Frame 4.
Thanks.
@Parkflower: Thanks, I’m glad you like the tree texture. If you want to add your own, it’s fairly straightforward. If you want to add a texture like the tree texture, just take your texture image into Photoshop, convert it to grayscale and then save it out as a JPG at a high setting. Then import it into PhotoFrame. Backgrounds are slightly trickier. I’m working on a full blog post that outlines that process in a step-by-step fashion.
Thanks. The texture info is perfect. I’ll be looking forward to your blog on adding my own backgrounds and frames.
