Last weekend, I was in Washington D.C. for the Epson Print Academy and I stuck around an extra day to be a tourist and take in our Nation’s capitol. As I was walking near the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, I noticed some trees that had a very cool texture to them and thought that they would make a nice addition to the textures in PhotoFrame 4.

To add this texture to PhotoFrame, download it first and save it to your hard drive in a place you can easily find it and unzip it. Next, launch the plug-in from within Photoshop and then go to the File menu and choose Import frames…

Choose the file “tree_bark_texture.frm” and then from the Search field in PhotoFrame 4 type in “tree” and the texture will show up. Keep in mind that when you add this texture, be sure to experiment. Change the color. Change the blend mode. Change the opacity and definitely increase the Blur a little bit. Depending on your image, you can get some cool results.

Download the Tree Bark texture.

The name of this preset makes me think of a senior in high school that may have had too much to drink, but I’m sure that’s not what onOne Senior Product Manager Dan Harlacher had in mind when he created this preset for the onOne Exchange. Rather, he meant that it was loaded up with all kinds of cool new elements from PhotoFrame 4. Here we go…

The preset uses one of the cool new background files which is a brick wall in this case and then adds a Polaroid Type 55 film edge along with some tape to hold it down to that brick wall. There’s also a V Gallery texture overlay on there as well.

Sorry for the delay in posting new presets. It’s been a crazy last couple of weeks, but I’ve got a great new preset that I think will help make up for it. I call it the Black and White Bleach Bypass and I really like the black and white conversion. The images below are from onOne Pro Corner member Andy Kruczek.

Before PhotoTools

After PhotoTools

For those interested, the preset starts out with Jack Davis’ Auto Tone and Color (Neutrals) and then adds a Diffuse Glow (reduced so it doesn’t blow out the highlights). Next comes the Bleach Bypass followed by one of Jack Davis’ black and white conversions. It’s topped off with a Vignette.

You can adjust the strength of the Diffuse Glow and the Bleach Bypass items to best suit your photo. I hope you enjoy this preset!

For all of you portrait photographers out there using PhotoFrame 4 (or those of you who are thinking of using PhotoFrame 4) here is a preset that can be used for your Senior portraits to give you the edge (no pun intended) on the competition. This preset is called Funky Senior v2 (I’ve got a v1 but need to work on it some more before I post it).

This preset includes an overlay to give it some texture as well as a couple of adornments from V Gallery. The main edge around the edge is by Dave Cross. You’ll notice that I have two variations of the effect below. The first is just how I created the preset. The second, I went in and within PhotoFrame 4, applied the preset and then selected the V Gallery adornment on the left and changed the color so it was similar to our Senior’s shirt using the Eyedropper in PhotoFrame 4.

The various items were added as separate layers to our Photoshop file and I added a layer mask and painted away some of the effect on her skin. You may or may not want to do this depending on your image.

Here’s another PhotoFrame 4 preset for you. It’s called Taped to Metal, because, well, I’m on a kick using the new tape adornments and I happened to like the color of this metal background and how it complemented the color in the photo. Again, in this PhotoFrame 4 preset, I’ve combined several components including a popular Polaroid SX70 film stock along with a metal textured background (and yes tape) to get this effect along with a couple of different scroll adornments from V Gallery.

This PhotoFrame preset is great for black and white photos. It replicates the look of a vintage photo not only with the antique film edge by Vincent Versace, but also through the use of an overlay to give the photo a bit of a worn and tattered look. One of the cool new things in PhotoFrame 4 are the overlays that give you a lot of options of how to add cool effects to your photos without much work.

Attention PhotoFrame 4 users! Here is the first preset posted to the onOne Exchange for PhotoFrame 4! This one is called Instant 55 with Tape. The primary edge effect looks like a Polaroid Type 55 film border taped down to a black background. It will work best if the background of your website or album page is black. Of course, this is just the setting for the preset. You can modify it to be white or any other color if you so desire. It also includes a very cool adornment from the Jed & Vicki Taufer of V Gallery.
