Dan Harlacher has been busy creating some really great PhotoTools 2.5 presets. Here’s one called Flower Power. The image to the left is the after. The image below is the before.

This is a combination of effects that we’ve been using a lot lately at our trade shows and events. I thought we should post it here because we get so many great comments on it when people see it live. The shot is from Fred Marcus Studio in New York.

This PhotoTools preset starts out with Kevin Kubota’s Daily Multi-Vitamin effect to increase the contrast as well as pump up some of the blues in the photo. Next on the list is the Kubota Radiance Landscape which is a great effect that boosts the color and vividness of the photo without softening it or adding any glow. The last step was to add the Velvia effect in PhotoTools which simulates the look achieved with Fuji Velvia film.

This isn’t a preset that Jack Davis created, but I couldn’t have created it without him. This Aged Photo preset uses only effects that were written for PhotoTools by Jack Davis. My goal here was to create an aged photo look and to achieve that, we needed to get some overlays and some noise in there. That helps give it some age, but we needed to add, or reduce, the color so to do that I added the Davis-Antique Color followed by the Davis-Edge Vignette Dark. I think the end result is effective.

This PhotoTools preset comes to us from Dave Cross. It combines 4 different effects to enhance a sunset shot.

It starts out with the Jack Davis Graduated Density effect, followed by the Davis Color Intensify effect. Third in the stack is the onOne Golden Hour Enhancer and then it’s all topped off with the Davis Graduated Density effect. Each is set at a different strength which you’ll see when you apply the preset.

This is a great PhotoTools preset for landscape photographers to enhance your photos. It will boost the colors and increase the overall brightness.

Like usual, the first effect I added to my stack in PhotoTools was the Kubota Daily Multi-Vitamin effect to give a nice contrast to the image. I followed that with another effect by Kevin Kubota called Radiance Landscape set to the Reduced option. This effect will boost the colors without softening or glowing – which is funny because I’m going to do that separately in a moment…

To these two effects, I added the onOne Spring Enhancer. This enhances only the greens in the photo. I dialed the strength of the effect way back as at 100 percent it was just too much. Be sure to play with the Fade slider to adjust the strength of an effect if you don’t like it by default.

The final two steps I added were to add a Diffuse Glow effect created by Jack Davis. I liked how this softened up some of the details in the water (which might be hard to see in these reduced web files) and gave it a bit of dreamy look which is how I remember my time being a tourist in Bali. To finish the photo off, I added Jack’s Grungy Noise effect to the top of my stack to give the photo a bit of noise or simulated film grain like my photos would have (if I could go find them!). Here’s the final processed file.
